Our Story
From the mountains, for everyone passing through
Khancoban is one of those places that catches you off guard. A small, friendly country town tucked into the foothills of the Snowy Mountains, it sits at the crossroads of some of the most spectacular driving country in Australia. The Alpine Way, the Snowy Valleys Way and the Great River Road all converge right here.
The Pickled Parrot Providore grew out of a simple idea: give people a proper place to stop. Somewhere to eat something good, pick up fresh local produce, stock up on provisions and have a real conversation before heading back into the mountains.
We serve the locals who call Khancoban home and the travellers who are discovering it for the first time. Both groups deserve the same thing: quality food, honest groceries and a genuinely warm welcome.

The essential stop on the Alpine Way
The Alpine Way is one of Australia's great drives. It passes right through Khancoban, and that's exactly where you'll find us. We sit at the point where the Snowy Valleys Way and the Great River Road meet, which makes us hard to miss and easy to find.
Travellers have been stopping in here to refuel, re-stock and rest for good reason. A proper café meal, fresh supplies and a friendly face go a long way when you're out on the road.
